Anger

Description

Anger is one of the most common human emotions. The ancient philosopher Aristotle once said, Anybody can become angry. That is easy. But to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose and in the right way that is not within everybody s power and is not easy. As you read through the pages of the Bible, you see that this emotion was shared by many people: Cain, Moses, King David, Jonah and the other prophets, Jesus, and many others. Even the Lord God Almighty becomes angry at times. No one is immune to anger, and often anger leads to other emotions in Christians such as guilt, remorse, and bitterness. However, it is important to understand that anger is not a sin (Psalm 4:4; Ephesians 4:26). In fact, sometimes it is sinful NOT to become angry. Since anger is a neutral emotion, its intrinsic value is determined by the context within which it is found.

When is anger good? When is anger evil? How should the Christian use anger? This study examines these questions from a study of the Scriptures looking at Biblical characters. Such a practical study will help all to understand how to control anger so that it will be a righteous emotion instead of an improper reaction.
