Description

The Psalmist remarks, “The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:130). A study of the Scriptures is the most rewarding exercise in life. It is an “unfolding” of divine truth that brings amazing joy and spiritual security.

This series focuses upon the metaphors of the Bible. These figures of speech help the diligent student to grasp critical spiritual truths. An understanding of the metaphorical language of the Bible helps the Christian to handle properly the Word of God.

Metaphors are a common literary device in every day life. Many will use metaphorical concepts without realizing what they are doing. Someone needs a “leg up” or are “sick as a dog.” Others need to put their “house in order” and in so-doing must not “sweep anything under the rug.”

In communicating spiritual concepts, the use of metaphors helps the reader to fully understand. This series examines thirteen categories in which the Bible utilizes a number of earthly metaphors to communicate spiritual truths.
