Description

This study in Amos explores the impact of holding fast to a firm faith. Amos makes a prophetic call to hold fast to your faith when it seems all else has faltered. Even when your faith is shrinking, others are surrendering to compromise, and personal loyalty to God appears unappreciated, Amos makes a definite call to arm yourself with more faith and remain strong.

Dedication

To Stewart McClaskey, a man of bold faith ! I cannot think of another person who epitomizes the bold faith that the prophet Amos personified and the kind of faith that is the subject of his prophecy than Stewart Booker McClaskey. Stewart was a great encourager to me as I worked in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. His strong encouragement continued after I moved away from that city. Stewart’s sudden death left many of us in shock. He was a strong factor in the faithfulness of the Lord’s Church in Elizabethtown. Stewart s commitment to the Lord’s Church in Ukraine was unyielding. Stewart would boldly stand for the Truth of God regardless of how many might oppose him or in whatever country he was at the time. Stewart recognized that God’s Truth was absolute and demanded an absolute compliance. His wife, Ella Mae, and two sons, Wayne and Danny, survive Stewart and constantly remind us of Stewart’s steadfast love for the Lord. Like the great heroes of faith, Stewart being dead continues to speak to us!

May all elders be encouraged by Stewart’s example and hold fast to the precepts of Truth and the principles of New Testament Christianity.
