The Occult & Christians

Description

The term “occult” has portrayed the actions, practices, and beliefs which reveal secret knowledge empowering humans to possess supernatural abilities. These powers are allegedly possible through witch’s incantations, conversations with dead spirits, astrology, gazing into crystal balls, palm reading, tarot cards, or the reading tea leaves.

Most have been exposed to some aspect of the occult and many will dismiss these as harmless objects of imaginations. However the occult is a very serious and frightening problem. There are things that are not revealed to man’s understanding (Deut. 29:29). Those who try to understand the unknown of earthly life are placing themselves equal with Jehovah God. This is a sin (2 Kgs. 19:22). Those who practice the arts of the occult understand that such efforts to foretell and control the future are evil (Acts 19:18-20). From the biblical perspective there is absolutely no room for negotiation or compromise in regard to the practices of the occult because the occult destroys faith in God (Deut. 18:9-14; 2 Kgs. 21:6; Gal. 5:19-20; Acts 12:6-12; Is. 8:19, 20; 44:25; 47:12,13; Jer. 14:14; 27:9, 10; Ez. 13:9; Lev. 19:26, 31; 20:6, 27; Mic. 5:12; Rev. 21:8; 22:18-20; Ex. 22:18).

This study takes a biblical look at the occult so Christians can understand the threat to our Christian lives.
